A successful Joint Career Week

During 21-28 April, OCEANS hold its first online career week. Jointly coordinated with EMA, the career week consisted of a series of webinars aimed at providing its members a platform to explore career opportunities in various sectors, understand how to improve their employability skills, connect with entrepreneurs and people who already work in international organisations.

The other part of the event consisted of a resume screening session, where members could send their CVs and resumes to the career services of OCEANS Network, and a team of human resources (HR) experts would provide a helpful and creative feedback on how to improve their CVs/resumes.

During this joint event, the OCEANS presence was relevant in every aspect. There were a considerable number of OCEANS members sending their resumes, HR experts from the OCEANS community screening resumes, but also presenters such as for example Rachel McCarthy, former Australian Coordinator, and Dr. Maggie Tolan, the director of the Careers Office at Georgia State University (a partner for the Atlantis project), Atlanta, to give a presentation on CV/Resume Writing.

Following the success of this event, and the potential of organising further activities that would enhance their career and professional opportunities, the Coordinating Board has decided to open a new position in the Board, the position of a “Career Development Coordinator.” More details regarding the position and the application for the new elections will be provided at the AGM in Berlin.

The webinars have been recorded and can be watched online by accessing the online community. We would also like to thank the participants and the presenters for making this a successful event.
