Expanding Erasmus+ cooperation and international mobility in Uzbekistan & Central Asia

In November, OCEANS Network was represented in Uzbekistan by Leila Benabdallah and Tumaris Ramanova.

In November, OCEANS Network was represented in Uzbekistan by Leila Benabdallah and Tumaris Ramanova for a series of meetings, conferences and exchanges with higher education institutions and Erasmus+ stakeholders, in close cooperation with the National Erasmus+ Office (NEO) Uzbekistan.

These activities focused on promoting Erasmus+ international mobility, raising awareness among students and staff, and strengthening long-term cooperation between universities and alumni networks.

During the visit, OCEANS contributed to two key regional events:

  • Information and Promotion Session at Namangan University of Business and Science

This session brought together representatives from local Higher Education Institutions and students. OCEANS representatives shared information on Erasmus+ opportunities and provided guidance to encourage students and staff to engage in international mobility.

  • Annual International Conference of the Higher Education Reform Experts (HEREs) and Scientific-Educational Forum at SARBON University, Tashkent

This major regional conference gathered higher education institutions, ministries and Erasmus+ stakeholders from across Central Asia to discuss higher education reforms, student-centered learning, university–industry cooperation and regional collaboration. OCEANS delivered a workshop titled “Beyond Mobility: How Erasmus+ Shapes Lifelong Opportunities”, highlighting the long-term value of international mobility and the role of alumni networks in supporting students and staff.

Building long-term cooperation

A highlight of the visit was the signature of Memoranda of Understanding with Fergana State University and the University of Innovation Technologies (Nukus).

These agreements mark an important step in fostering long-term collaboration, supporting international mobility, outreach activities and alumni engagement across Uzbekistan.

Constructive discussions also took place with several other universities and institutions, reflecting a shared commitment to continuing dialogue and expanding opportunities for international mobility in the country and the region.

Warm thanks to the National Erasmus+ Office Uzbekistan and all partner institutions for their cooperation and engagement.

OCEANS Network looks forward to continuing these collaborations and contributing to dynamic, sustainable, and accessible international mobility in Uzbekistan and Central Asia.
